A class for absolute beginners, co-developed with Nitya and taught by instructors she has trained.
Course aim:
Learn the basics of astrology. These basics are primarily related to symbolic language.
So we have to learn a “new language” with its new symbols (including visual ones).
This new language is also anew way of thinking, andthat is where the approach will take shape: it is a matter of reshaping one’s perspective in order to become an astrologer.
The same ideas are repeated many times in a birth chart; it is by practicing with small concepts that you will make progress toward a comprehensive understanding of what you yourself are meant to accomplish in your life (as outlined in your birth chart) or of the person whose birth chart you want to analyze and whom you want to help with their current problems.
To do this, you will work on the pillars (or “fundamentals”) of the topic:
- The Structure of the Birth Chart—how to interpret it, how it is constructed, its geography, the symbols depicted, and all the psychological, artistic, spiritual, and mythological dimensions to which it connects us.
- The signs : You need to form a clear understanding of each sign as a force or energy, because this force, in a sense, “animates” the “matter” brought by the planets. To do this, you’ll explore the different levels of “meaning” associated with each sign, because—as with everything on Earth—meaning can be very visible and concrete or much more subtle. The goal is to teach you to identify the full range of meanings associated with the signs and to be able to recognize their variations. To this end, the study will be methodical and thematically structured, drawing on psychological frameworks (the most visible level and the one most often described), but also—and above all—psychoanalytic, mythological, and literary frameworks, as well as references to alchemy and spirituality. Indeed, all these layers of knowledge allow us to grasp the level at which the sign takes on meaning and, above all, the evolution that is required.
- The Planets : Each planet reveals the very structure of human nature—that is, the mechanisms by which we function. For each planet, you will learn to examine its purpose and mode of operation.
- The 12 Houses: The key to understanding the houses is to view each one as a realm of experience that evolves with our lives and as we grow older. Here, too, you’ll explore each house in detail until you truly discover the common thread running through this wheel, which represents all areas of our lives.
- The Elements or the Number 4 : This is a very important theme because it addresses our preferred way of functioning—or, conversely, what feels foreign to us. We will explore this theme through the study of the signs.
These pillars must be understood and mastered, but they must also be considered from the perspective of (very practical) personal development, because they are present in every birth chart, and their variations allow us to focus on analyzing what a person is meant to do in life—which is described very precisely by their birth chart.
There will be some independent work to do, and for each of these topics, you will complete exercises and short assignments:
- so that you can truly master the fundamentals of a topic by being mindful of your own biases, because you must understand that before you are an astrologer, you are a person with character traits and a personal way of thinking, and thatyour ownchart therefore overlaps with what you read in others’ charts.
- so that you can use this as a basis to work (and progress) on understanding your own theme.. You're lucky enough to know your chart from the inside, and to be a privileged observer. This is the best way to understand what a planet in a sign is "doing" in a house.
Course specificity:
The course will use your birth chart as its starting point for each session. It is this back-and-forth between theory and personal practice—based on your chart—that will enable you to better integrate both the basic body of astrological knowledge and what your birth chart reveals about you: both who you are and who you are meant to be.
Practical details :
This course on the pillars of astrology is part of Nitya’s curriculum.
It takes place over 2½ hours every other week (the days and dates depend on the teachers).
Since the course is based on the participants' chosen topics, the group is limited to a maximum of 18 students. Assignments must be turned in and shared to benefit the entire group.
The cost is 150 euros per month (based on 4 classes)
The course runs for a year and a half starting from its start date.
